Just a reminder, this Wednesday is a late start, 8:20 am. Also, as Dr. Maleyko mentioned in his March 14th Letter the student protest will occur this Wednesday at 10 am. Our goal as an administrative team is to honor our students desire to participate, with our primary objective ensuring student safety. The organization of the 17 minute protest has been entirely developed by student leaders; I’m proud of the student leaders we have at Dearborn High. This is their message:
On March 14th, 10 am, DHS students have planned to walk out in solidarity with the NeverAgain movement and the empowering survivors of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High for 17 minutes. We will be honoring those who tragically lost their lives. Anyone who wants to participate should walk out at 10 am exactly, and meet at the front doors outside of the circle drive. Administration is aware and like us, ask that anyone who participates does so for the right reasons and is 100% respectful to those we are honoring.
Next Wednesday, March 21st is our Spring Parent Teacher Conferences. They’ll be held from 4-7 pm and you’ll have the ability to meet with all of your students teachers; please plan on attending.
Our annual Tin Can Raffle will be held this year on Friday, March 16th from 4-9 p.m. as well as Saturday, March 17th from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Not only do you have an opportunity to win great prizes, but you’ll have the ability to help support our students. The whole community is invited to come to the event. We hope to see you on Friday and Saturday!
10th and 11th graders looking for SAT review, plan on attending our Thursday SAT review sessions in the in the Media Center from 2:30-4:00. Students will have the ability to practice using Khan Academy.
