Dearborn High School

Week Ahead

Greetings Pioneers,

It’s hard to believe but the end of May is already upon us!

Please remember that the last day of school is June 17th and all family vacations should start after your child has concluded their school year on that date.

As the weather heats up, sometimes it is easy to be looking ahead to June and we forget to take advantage of every opportunity life has for us.  Our teachers are putting together engaging lessons to keep the love of learning flowing.

I am requesting your help in talking to your students about the importance of seeing the year through.  We have seen an increase in instances of horseplay and students “touching one another”, especially in hallways.  This is mostly between friends, starts friendly but quickly escalates and becomes more serious.   We are reviewing the age-old expectation of keeping hands to ourselves.  Please have the same discussion with your child.  We will be strictly enforcing this, because we definitely do not want anyone seriously injured.

We are excited for our senior class that will conclude their senior year this Thursday. Please remember that seniors who are disciplined or suspended may lose the privilege to attend the end of year festivities that we have worked so hard to plan for them – this includes, prom, senior party, commencement. In more serious situations, the law is involved. We want our seniors to have fun- in and out of school -without anyone getting hurt or breaking rules/laws. Please talk to your senior about this because we will continue to enforce the Student Code of Conduct. We want all our seniors to end their time at DHS on a positive note and finish strong!

Pioneer Time was a huge success last week and the majority of teachers and students were in favor of continuing this initiative. We  look forward to improving the process and implementing it to support our students next year.
