Dearborn High School

Week Ahead

Greetings Pioneers,

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all of our teachers! Thank you to our amazing PFSA for the wonderful lunch they provided to all DHS staff in recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week – last Thursday. Thank you to the Booster Club, Discover Islam Club and Student Council for the goodies they provided to help us thank our teachers for all their hard work. Please take the time to write a note of gratitude to your favorite teacher.

Big shout out to Ms. Quaker-McCoy for having handed out the most PBIS reward cards! Mr. Brown and Ms. Pegouske did a fabulous job as well and were the runner-ups. This is part of our discipline process at DHS in reinforcing the positive behaviors of our students.

Congratulations to our student winners –  Joseyana Bulat, Jana Hammoud, Connor Batha, and Adam Makled. Way to go, Pioneers!

Student Council candidate packets for the 2023-2024 school year are available beginning Monday May 8th at 7:30AM.  There will be a meeting in the annex.  If you cannot make this meeting, packets can be picked up during your lunch or after school until 3:15 PM from Ms. Rumler in the main office.  All packets are due to Ms. Rumler by 3:30 PM on Monday the 15th of May. Students need a 3.0GPA, no suspensions and not be on audit.

Prom and senior party tickets will continue to be sold all week before school and during all lunches. Prom will be June 1st and the senior party will be June 10th. Student ID is required to purchase tickets.

On another note, we are fortunate to be able to provide chromebooks for our students’ instructional use during the day, but that entails students being responsible and handling them with care. We are noticing a large number of students who are damaging the classroom chromebooks and we want to make students and parents aware that they will be responsible for the cost to repair any damaged device used. Please make sure to have a conversation with your student about respecting school property to avoid losing this privilege.

As we head into the last week of April and the  weather gets warmer, families start to plan trips. We encourage families to create  memories and ask that you plan these trips according to the district’s  school calendar. Please be aware that students’ absences for family vacations does count towards audit. Our teachers work hard to ensure that every minute counts as our motto is “bell to bell instruction”. Your partnership and support are key to ensuring that your child doesn’t fall behind due to family vacations during school time. As always, we appreciate your support and encourage you to reach out with any questions or concerns.
