Dearborn High School

A Message from the Principal

Greetings Pioneers,

I want to provide you with a further update regarding the current safety measures we are taking at Dearborn High.

At approximately 8:06 this morning, an empty bullet casing was found in the hallway at Dearborn High. This was not an actual bullet, only the back half. There was no shooting at the school nor was there any shooting in the nearby area.

Out of an abundance of caution, Dearborn Police advised that we move our school into a Soft Lockdown situation. During a Soft Lockdown, students remain in the classroom they are currently in and no one is permitted in or out of the building. This is done to ensure a safe school environment and to allow law enforcement personnel to complete any investigations.

Dearborn police felt it would be best to have firearms and ammunition detection dogs  walk through the halls of the school during the soft lockdown.  This action was taken and fortunately no other materials or bullet casing were found.

We are working with the Dearborn Police to determine where this empty bullet casing may have come from.

We have lifted the Soft Lockdown and students are resuming their normal school day.

Thank you very much for your cooperation!

Principal Jebril
