    VAN PATRICK AWARD AND HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ALL-STAR GAME

    Congratualtions to senior golfer/ice hockey player Evan Bowser on winning the Van Patrick Award as the top male student-athlete in the City of Dearborn this year.  The Van Patrick Award is presented annually by the Dearborn Recreation Commission and was awarded this year in a ceremony on Sunday, April 1st.  Congratulations to Evan and his family!

    Congratulations to senior football player Rami Jergess for being selected to play in the Michigan High School Football Coaches All-Star Game, to be held at Bahlke Field on the campus of Alma College on Saturday, June 30, 2012.  Rami will play at Northern Michigan University in the fall.  Congratulations and good luck!

    ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS AND NOTES

    The varsity baseball team clinched the WWAC Blue Division championship with a 4-3 victory at Belleville on Wednesday, May 16th.  Senior Caleb Abston pitched a complete game for the Pioneers, who improved to 13-10 overall, 7-1 in the WWAC Blue.  Congratulations to Coach Schleif and the varsity baseball team!

     

    The girls varsity soccer team beat visiting Redford Thurston 5-0 on Wednesday, May 16th to improve to 10-6-3 overall, 6-0-1 WWAC.  Pioneer goals by Amy Raftary, Alison Ziaja, Kendal Kopal, Carly O'Brien, and Yara Fakhoury.  Congratulations to Coach Alabakoff and the girls varsity soccer team!

     

    The varsity softball team won at Belleville on Wednesday, May 16th to improve to 9-13 overall, 5-3 in the WWAC Blue.  Sophomore Amelia Denison had 2 hits, 2 runs, and 3 RBI to lead the offense and junior Kaitlyn Krawczyk got the win in relief.  Congratulations to Coach George and the varsity softball team!

     

    The JV baseball team knocked off visiting Belleville 3-2 on freshman Andrew Vanarsdale's walk off single in the bottom of the 7th innning.  He was also the winning pitcher, striking out 11.  The Pioneers are now 11-7 overall.  Congratulations to Coach Jenks and the JV baseball team!

     

    The JV softball team finished 8-0 in the WWAC Blue Division with a 10-0, 5 inning victory over visiting Belleville on Wednesday, May 16th.  Freshman Kyla Bazzy pitched a two-hitter and freshman Payton Gonzales chipped in with 3 hits and 3 runs scored.  The team is now 13-7 overall.  Congratulations to Coach Bruce and the JV softball team!

     

    The boys and girls track teams defeated visiting Edsel Ford on Tuesday, May 15th.  The boys won 86-51 to finish 4-0 in the WWAC Blue regular season.  Sophomore Bearooz Yacoobi won the shot put and discus for the Pioneers.  The girls won 88-49 to improve to 3-1 in dual meets.  Pioneers Leah Dong, Maryrose Deberardino, and Sarah Faraj swept the 200 meter dash.  Congratulations to Coach Bridges, Coach Polk, and the boys and girls track teams!

     

    The JV softball team swept visiting Romulus in a doubleheader on Monday, May 14th and in the process clinched the league championship.  The Pioneers are 7-0 in the WWAC Blue, 12-7 overall.  Madison Buzzeo had 4 hits and 3 runs scored in game #1, won by the Pioneers 20-18.  In game #2, Kyla Bazzy pitched a 4 hit shutout with 5 strikeouts to help cement a 10-0 Pioneer win.  Congratulations to Coach Bruce and the JV softball team!

     

    The girls JV soccer team improved to 13-3-2 on the season with a 6-0 win at Belleville on Monday, May 14th.  Rasha Khanafer, Miajune Wurster, Batoul Khanfer, Jenna Mekled (2), and Maya Ghandour scored for the Pioneers.  Congratulations to Coach Murray and the girls JV soccer team!

     

    The varsity softball team won at Romulus on Monday, May 14th by a score of 11-3.  The Pioneers improved to 8-12 overall, 4-3 WWAC Blue.  Freshman Abbey Ashburn led the offense and freshman Abi Hall got the win on the mound.  Congratulations to Coach George and the varsity softball team!

     

    The varsity golf team defeated Romulus 175-205 on Monday, May 14th in a match played at Gateway Golf Club.  Senior Evan Bowser was the medalist, shooting a 33 for 9 holes.  Earlier in the day, Evan was the medalist at the Dearborn Elite Invitational at Dearborn Country Club, shooting a 70 for 18 holes.  The Pioneers are now 7-1 overall, 5-0 in the WWAC Blue Division.  Congratulations to Coach Inch and the varsity golf team!

     

    The girls varsity soccer team remained undefeated in WWAC play with a 7-0 victory at Belleville on Monday, May 14th.  The team is now 9-6-3 overall, 5-0-1 WWAC.  Pioneer goals were scored by Kendal Kopal (2), Marissa Woodliff, Pfeiffer Neubert, Lesli Washington, Katrina Greathouse, and Alison Ziaja.  Congratulations to Coach Alabakoff and the girls varsity soccer team!

     

    The JV and varsity girls soccer teams defeated visiting Ypsilanti Lincoln on Friday, May 11th.  The JV won 5-0 to improve to 10-2-2 overall behind goals from Hana Bagomaan, Ibtesam Mustafa, Iman Mekled, and two from Batoul Khanafer.  The varsity won 4-0 to improve to 7-4-3 overall behind goals from Pfeiffer Neubert, Lena Makled, Marissa Woodliff, and Madison Mallad.  Congratulations to Coach Murray, Coach Alabakoff, and the JV and varsity girls soccer teams!

     

    The JV baseball and softball teams both posted victories over Annapolis at home on Friday, May 11th.  The JV boys won 15-5 to improve to 9-5 on the season and the JV girls won 20-5 in 4 innings to improve to 10-7 on the season.  Payton Gonzales, Rachel Konchal, and Kyla Bazzy each had three hits for the Pioneers.  Congratulations to Coach Jenks, Coach Bruce, and the JV baseball and softball teams!

     

    The girls JV soccer team is now 9-2-2 on the season after a 6-0 victory over visiting Detroit Country Day on Wednesday, May 9th.  Pioneer goals were scored by Sierra Aho, Jenna Mekled, MiaJune Wurster, Katryna Swider, Mallory Bryant, and Batoul Khanafer.  Congratulations to Coach Murray and the girls JV soccer team!

     

    The varsity baseball team won at Fordson on Wednesday, May 9th, posting a 17-1 victory in 5 innings behind the pitching of senior Andrew Buzzeo.  The Pioneers are now 11-6 overall, 6-0 in the WWAC Blue Division.  Congratulations to Coach Schleif and the varsity baseball team!

     

    The varsity softball team defeated Fordson 14-1 in 5 innings on the road on Wednesday, May 9th to improve to 6-9 overall and 3-3 in the WWAC Blue Division.  Freshman Abbey Ashburn led the offense with 3 hits and 5 RBI.  Congratulations to Coach George and the varsity softball team!

     

    The JV baseball team is now 8-4 on the season after defeating visiting Fordson 9-1 on Wednesday, May 9th.  Freshman Adam Dawdy pitched a complete game, striking out 11.  Congratulations to Coach Jenks and the JV baseball team!

     

    The JV softball team improved to 9-6 on the season with a 20-5, 3 inning victory over Fordson at home on Wednesday, May 9th.  Sophomore Madison Buzzeo and freshman Rachel Konchal each had three hits and scored three runs to lead the offense.  Congratulations to Coach Bruce and the JV softball team!

     

    The boys track team defeated visiting Belleville 93-44 on Tuesday, May 8th to improve to 3-0 on the season.  Senior Keshawn Walker won the 200 and junior Neal Warren won the pole vault to help lead the Pioneers.  Congratulations to Coach Bridges and the boys track team!

     

    The varsity baseball team defeated cross-town rival Edsel Ford 5-4 on senior Andy Rinke's single in the bottom of the 7th inning, which scored sophomore Pat Litwin with the winning run.  The Pioneers are now 10-6 overall, 5-0 in the WWAC Blue.  Congratulations to Coach Schleif and the varsity baseball team!

     

    The girls JV softball team defeated Edsel Ford 15-1 in 5 innings on Tuesday, May 8th in a game played at Edsel Ford.  The team is now 8-6 overall -- sophomore Grace Basala had four hits to lead the Pioneer offense.  Congratulations to Coach Bruce and the girls JV softball team!

     

    The boys golf team defeated Crestwood on Monday, May 7th in a match played at Warren Valley Golf Course.  Final score was 181-233 with the Pioneers improving to 6-1 overall, 4-0 in the WWAC Blue.  Congratulations to Coach Inch and the boys golf team!

     

    The girls varsity tennis team clinched the regular season WWAC Blue Division championship with a 7-1 victory on the road at Fordson on Monday, May 7th.  The team is now 9-0-0 overall, 8-0-0 WWAC Blue.  Junior Leslie Reynolds led the way with a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 win at #1 singles.  Congratulations to Coach Behmlander and the girls varsity tennis team!

     

    The boys track team traveled to the Brother Rice Relays on Saturday, May 5th and finished in a tie for first overall with the host school.  The Pioneers won the 110 hurdle relay and the 4 x 800 relay and were the only team to score in every event.  Congratulations to Coach Bridges and the boys track team!

     

    The girls JV soccer team traveled to Trenton on Friday, May 4th and brought home a 2-1 victory to run their season record to 8-2-2.  Sophomore Batoul Khanafer scored both Pioneer goals.  Congratulations to Coach Murray and the girls JV soccer team!

     

    The girls varsity soccer team won at Romulus on Wednesday, May 2nd, with 8 different players scoring in an 8-0 victory.  The team is now 6-3-2 overall, 4-0-1 in the WWAC.  Congratulations to Coach Alabakoff and the girls varsity soccer team!

     

    The girls varsity tennis team continued to win with an 8-0 victory over visiting Belleville on Wednesday, May 2nd.  The team is now 8-0 overall, 7-0 in the WWAC Blue.  Senior Anna Stassen won at #3 singles for the Pioneers.  Congratulations to Coach Behmlander and the girls varsity tennis team!

     

    The varsity baseball team defeated Belleville 6-0 behind senior Caleb Abston's complete game shutout on Wednesday, May 2nd.  The game was played at DHS.  The Pioneers are now 9-6 overall, 4-0 in the WWAC Blue Division.  Congratulations to Coach Schleif and the varsity baseball team!

     

    The girls JV softball team stayed hot with an 8-2 victory at Belleville on Wednesday, May 2nd.  The team is now 7-5 overall.  Third baseman Grace Basala had a stellar day in the field for the Pioneers.  Congratulations to Coach Bruce and the girls JV softball team!

     

    The girls varsity tennis team continued their undefeated run by defeating visiting Edsel Ford 6-2 on Tuesday, May 1st.  The team is now 7-0 overall, 6-0 in the WWAC Blue Division.  Congratulations to Coach Behmlander and the girls varsity tennis team!

     

    The boys and girls track teams both defeated visiting Romulus on Tuesday, May 1st.  The boys won 109-28 and the girls won 79-57.  DHS swept the 3200 meter run with Ahmad Abogilal, Sam Mousigian, and Ben Shaw going 1-2-3 in the boys race and Leah Wendzinski, Claire Whittaker, and Chloe Haag going 1-2-3 in the girls race.  Both teams are now 2-0 in the WWAC Blue Division.  Congratulations to Coach Bridges, Coach Polk, and the boys and girls track teams!

     

    PAY-TO-PLAY AND PHYSICAL INFORMATION FOR 2011-2012

    THE PAY-TO-PLAY FEE FOR 2011-2012 IS $75.00 PER STUDENT-ATHLETE.  THIS ALLOWS STUDENTS UNLIMITED PARTICIPATION IN ATHLETICS AND OTHER EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR.  A DETAILED EXPLANATION OF THIS FEE IS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD BELOW.

    YOU MUST HAVE AN ATHLETIC PHYSICAL ON FILE TO PARTICIPATE IN HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS.  A COPY OF THE PHYSICAL FORM IS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD BELOW.  IN ADDITION, ALL STUDENT-ATHLETES MUST BE COVERED BY HEALTH INSURANCE.  STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE IS AVAILABLE THROUGH GUARANTEE TRUST LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY, AND CAN BE PURCHASED BY DOWNLOADING AND COMPLETING THE FORM BELOW.

     

    ATHLETIC CODE OF CONDUCT

    All student-athletes and their parents should be familiar with the Dearborn Public Schools Athletic Code of Conduct.  A copy is available for download below.

     

    ELIGIBILITY

    In addition to meeting all eligibility requirements from the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA), students in the Dearborn Public Schools are required to maintain a 2.000 Grade Point Average (GPA) to remain eligible to participate in athletics.  High school grades are checked approximately every six weeks -- eligibility is determined at these checkpoints.  Information on MHSAA eligibility requirements can be found at www.mhsaa.com.
