Dear Pioneer Parents, Students, and Families;
It is with great honor and excitement that I write this letter of introduction as the newly appointed Principal of Dearborn High School. Many of you may know me from the years I served as principal at Smith, assistant principal at Dearborn High School or Edsel Ford High School. My passion for education and supporting the success of all students has been shaped over the past 24 years as a 2nd/3rd grade multi-age teacher for 7 years, 7th/8th grade ELA teacher for 7 years (looped with my students), Graduation Intervention Specialist, assistant principal at EFHS and most recently I served as principal of Smith. Prior to that I served as assistant principal at DHS and I am ecstatic to return as principal. I come to you with a rich background and many years of serving families in the Dearborn community. In each of my roles, I have sought to ensure the success of each student and the school, by supporting the best instructional and extracurricular opportunities possible. Similarly, it is my number one priority at Dearborn High School to ensure that every student receives the most well-rounded education possible.
On a personal note, I was born and raised in Dearborn and take a great deal of pride in Dearborn Schools. My children and I are the product of DPS. I have three adult sons who have college degrees of various levels and are experiencing successful careers due to the foundation they received at DPS. It’s my goal to ensure that every student who comes through my doors is given the opportunities that my sons were fortunate enough to enjoy years ago and that my grandchildren will soon enjoy. I am truly invested in Dearborn Schools as an educator and community member. My motto is to treat every student the way I would want my own child to be treated if he were in that same situation.
Over the past few weeks, I have had the privilege of getting to know some of the amazing students, parents, and staff at Dearborn High School. One of the greatest takeaways from these conversations is the desire for all parties to work together and help move the school forward by building on the strong foundation that has been established at DHS.
All of us at Dearborn High School are eager and excited to begin what promises to be the best year ever. This year is going to be amazing as we continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections. As the Principal of Dearborn High School, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors-teachers, students and parents-is excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. Please know that I highly value home/school communication. Our partnership is vital and plays an integral role in each student’s success. I truly believe in the proverb,”It takes a village to raise a child.” Those who work with me, know that this is part of my everyday vocabulary.
As part of my regular routine, starting tomorrow, you will find me out and about on campus during morning arrivals, afternoon dismissals, evening events, and throughout the day. I look forward to the opportunity to meet and begin my relationship with the students, staff, and families of the Dearborn High School community. I can be reached via email at jebrilz@dearbornschools.org or just stop by to introduce yourself any time -as I have an open door policy and my door is always open to you.
I look forward to working with you, as a team, to help each student at Dearborn High School have a successful school year!
Best Regards,
Zeina Jebril, Ed.S.
