The message below was sent to all DHS students:
Greetings Pioneers,
Over a week ago, we mourned with the Oxford community. Last night, you- our students- held a vigil in honor of those we lost. We will continue to stand in solidarity with them and continue to honor the lives lost and those impacted by this tragic event.
Unfortunately, this past week, there were posts made on social media that caused much alarm and fear. It is so very unfortunate that someone would take advantage of the tragic situation that happened in Oxford to create more unnecessary fear and panic. Law enforcement and the District have been using every means necessary to locate any individual who makes these types of false claims or threatening comments or false reporting. This is no joke! Making these types of comments can result in permanent expulsion from the Dearborn Public Schools and criminal prosecution.
Our words and what we post on social media carries weight. You may not think twice about it, but it does. We expect more from our students. That “joke” or “prank” is not being taken lightly. There are serious consequences associated with any threat regardless of the intention of the comment/action. Students have gotten caught and are facing legal and school discipline. We will continue to pursue every lead to identify students who post or say anything intimidating or threatening. Please do NOT repost any threats you see on social media, but instead bring it to the attention of an administrator or teacher as reposting slows down the investigation.
This has been a trying week for all of us, but we stood together, supported one another in so many different ways. I want to thank the students and families who didn’t hesitate to reach out to me with tips and information. I want to thank those who offered their help and support in so many different ways.
I want to reassure our students that our school is safe. I am so sorry you had to experience such a scare. Always report any disturbing comments/behaviors to a trusted adult or school administrator. I want to personally thank all of the students who personally reached out to me to inform me of posts they saw on social media or overheard conversations. I am so grateful to all of you for being such an upstander!

Our week ahead looks like this:
Dearborn High National Honor Society is hosting “Elf of the Week ” for our staff throughout the last school week of December. It is their creative way to spread cheer and lift spirits among our school community during this festive time of year! NHS members will select their VIP (Very Important Pioneer), and celebrate them all week.
- Monday, December 13th
- McDonald School COVID vaccine clinic
- Wednesday, December 15th
- Lockdown Drill (this is a scheduled drill)
- Thursday, December 16th
- Winter Vocal Concert @7pm
- Friday, December 17th
- School closes at the end of the day until January 3rd
- Have a delightful and restful break!!!!

منذ أسبوع شاركنا جالية أوكسفورد الأسى. وقد قمتم الليلة الماضية، أنتم طلابنا، بتذكر وتكريم الضحايا الذين فقدناهم. وسنستمر بالوقوف معاً متضامنين معهم، وسنتابع تكريم الحياة التي فُقدت وأولئك الذين تأثرت حياتهم بسبب هذه الحادثة المأساوية.
لسوء الحظ، تمّ في الأسبوع الماضي على مواقع التواصل الإجتماعي تداول بعض المنشورات التي سببت الكثير من القلق والذعر. ومن المؤسف جداً أن يستغلّ البعض الوضع المأساوي الذي وقع في أوكسفورد لإثارة الخوف والهلع الغير ضروري. وتقوم قوى الأمن باستخدام كل الوسائل الضرورية لتحديد أي فرد يقوم بنشر هذا النوع من الإدعاءات الكاذبة أو التعليقات التهديدية أو التقارير الخاطئة. هذا الموضوع ليس مزحة! ويمكن لهذا النوع من التعليقات أن تؤدي إلى الفصل النهائي من مدارس ديربورن العامة والمحاكمة الجنائية.
إن للكلمات التي ننشرها على منصّات التواصل الأجتماعي وزناً. يمكن أن لا تفكر في الأمر مرتين، لكنها الحقيقة. ونحن نتوقع الأفضل من طلابنا، ولا نستهتر بتلك “المزحة” أو “المقلب.” هناك عواقب جدية تترافق مع أي تهديد بغض النظر عن النية أو الهدف من التعليق أو الفعل. لقد تم الإمساك بعدد من الطلاب وهم الأن يواجهون تأديباً مدرسياً وقانونياً. وسنستمّر في متابعة أي دليل التحديد الطلاب الذين ينشرون أو يقولون أي شيء ترهيبي أو تهديدي. نرجو منكم عدم إعادة نشر أي تعليقات ترونها على منصات التواصل الأجتماعي، وبدلاً من ذلك إبلاغ أحد أفراد الإدارة أو أحد المدرسين لأن إعادة النشر تبطئ التحقيقات الجارية.
لقد كان أسبوعأً صعباً لنا جميعاً، لكننا وقفنا معاً وساندنا بعضنا البعض بطرقٍ متعددة. أود أن أشكر الطلاب والعائلات الذين لم يترددوا عن الإتصال بنا لتقديم النصائح والمعلومات. كما أشكر أولئك الذين عرضوا المساعدة والدعم بطرق مختلفة ومتعددة.
أُريد أن أُؤكد أن طلابنا في المدرسة بإمان. وأنا متأسفة لإضطراركم لاختبار هذا الفزع. دائماً أبلغوا عن أي تعليقات أو تصرفات مقلقة إما لراشد تثقون به أو لأحد أفراد الإدارة. وأود شخصيّاً أن أشكر جميع الطلاب الذين تواصلوا معي لإبلاغي عن منشورات رأوها على منصات التواصل الإجتماعي أو عن أحاديثٍ سمعوها. أنا ممتنة لكم جميعاً لكونكم تتصدون للخطأ!

يستضيف مجتمع التشريف الوطني في ثانوية ديربورن هاي “قزم الأسبوع” لموظفينا خلال الأسبوع المدرسي الأخير من شهر كانون الأوّل (ديسمبر). إنها طريقتهم الإبداعية لنشر البهجة ورفع المعنويات في جاليتنا المدرسية خلال هذا الوقت الإحتفالي من العام! وسيختار أعضاء مجتمع التشريف الوطني الرائد الهام جداً (Very Important Pioneer) ويحتفلون بهم طوال الأسبوع.
