Greetings Pioneers!
I hope you all had an enjoyable summer break. As August quickly comes to a close, we are eager to welcome our students and incoming 9th graders back to Dearborn High School. Ninth grade orientation went very well and was a huge success! Students had a great time!
We welcome a new assistant principal, Mr. Jamel Lawera and will be hiring another assistant principal in the next month or so. In the meantime, Ms. Ball will be working with students with last names beginning with A-B, L-S and Mr. Lawera will be working with students with last names beginning with C-K, T-Z.
We pride ourselves on working closely with families to help our students prepare for the future. Together we can bridge a partnership that empowers students to reach greater strides academically and socially. Our focus will be on making sure all of our students’ needs are met. High academic achievement is an expectation for all DHS students.
The high school years are critical and we fully understand that we need to cultivate an environment of high expectations, meaningful learning opportunities, and systemic approaches for our students to be successful in college and career. The DHS staff is committed to activate critical thinking skills from day one. Our staff will provide opportunities for students to accelerate their learning.
Instilling student self-worth is another goal we have for students. They need to know that they contribute so much to this world. Through mindful discovery, confidence, and eagerness, we can help students acknowledge their own potential. We encourage all students to participate in after school activities, such as sporting events, clubs, tutoring, etc. Getting involved in school events enriches our students’ experience in high school and helps them become invested in their school. We also hope to see many of our dedicated parents attend events. Working together, we can make DHS a model school. I am a firm believer in the old adage, “It takes a village to raise/teach a child!”
Our team is working hard to prepare for the first day of school on Monday, August 28th. Class schedules for the 2023-24 school year are available on StudentConnect and ParentConnect
For your planning, please be aware that high school will start at 7:45 am and end the day at 2:45 pm with the exception of Tuesdays – in which dismissal will be 1:15pm. Half days will end at 10:55am.

Please make sure your information is correct and updated in ParentConnect. If the forms listed below were not completed online, make sure the forms are returned during the 9th grade orientation or schedule pick up. The required forms are Emergency Card, Health Appraisal, Sports Appraisal, Cell Phone Policy, Consent for Immunizations, Concussion Form, Code of Conduct Letter, and Pesticide Form.
As we return to school, I want to provide you with additional information about the steps that we have put in place to ensure a safe and smooth transition into the new school year.
Drop-off Procedures
Please follow the drop off lane to drop off your students. Please drive safely and be aware that students should never be dropped off on Outer Drive as that is extremely unsafe for all.
Breakfast is available to all students. Breakfast begins at 7:25 am each day in the cafeteria.
Dismissal/ Parent Pick-Up Procedures
Students will exit the building using the door closest to their classroom. Talk to your child(ren) to determine the best pickup time and exact location in our drop-off/pickup lane.
Student Parking
Students wishing to park in the student parking lot must have a parking pass. Parking passes are $20 and can be purchased from the main office.
Attendance Reminders
If your child(ren) feels ill, please keep them at home and call the school office at (313) 827-1600 or (313)827-1601 to notify us of your child’s absence.
School Supplies
Teachers will share a recommended list of supplies.
Breakfast and Lunch
All students are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch. Breakfast begins at 7:25 a.m. each day in the cafeteria and doors will close at 7:45am to ensure that students get to class on time.

آمل أن تكونواقد استمتعتم بعطلة الصيف. وبينما يقترب شهر آب (آوغستس) من نهايته، نجدنا متحمسون للترحيب بطلابنا وطالباتنا وطلاب الصف التاسع الوافدين إلينا في ثانوية ديربورن هاي. وقد جرت جولة تعريف طلاب الصف التاسع بشكل جيد للغاية وكانت ناجحة جداً! وحظي الطلاب بوقتٍ رائع.
نرحب بناظر الثانوية الجديد السيد جمال لاويرا علماً باننا بصدد توظيف ناظرٍ أضافي في الشهر القادم. وحتى ذلك الوقت، ستعمل السيدة كايتلين بول مع الطلاب الذين تبدأ أسماء عائلاتهم بالأحرف أ – ب (A-B)، أل – أس (L-S)، فيما يعمل السيد لاويرا مع الطلاب الذين تبدأ أسماء عائلاتهم بالأحرف س – ك (C-K)، تي – زي (T-Z)،
نفتخر باننا نعمل عن قرب مع العائلات لمساعدة طلابنا على الإستعداد للمستقبل. ويمكننا معاً بناء جسرٍ من الشراكة التي تمنح الطلاب القوة للقيام بخطواتٍ تعليمية وإجتماعية أكبر. وسيكون تركيزنا على التأكد من توفير جميع حاجات طلابنا وطالباتنا حيُ أن تحقيق مستوى تعليميٍ عالٍ هو ما نتوقعه من جميع طلاب ثانوية ديربورن هاي.
إن سنوات الدراسة الثانوية شديدة الأهمية ونفهم كلياً حاجتنا لزراعة بيئةٍ من توقعات عالية، فرص تعلمٍ ذات معنى، ومقاربة ممنهجة لمساعدة طلابنا على النجاح في كلياتهم ومهنهم. ويلتزم موظفو ثانوية ديربورن هاي، منذ اليوم الأول، بتفعيل مهارات التفكير الإنتقادي وتوفير الفرص لطلابنا وطالباتنا لتسريع تعلمهم.
لدينا هدف آخر لطلابنا وهوغرس تقدير الذات فيهم. يجب أن يعرفوا أنهم يساهمون بالكثير في هذا العالم. ويمكننا مساعدة طلابنا وطالباتنا على معرفة إمكاناتهم عن طريق الإكتشاف الواعي، الثقة، والحماس. ونشجّع الطلاب والطالبات على المشاركة في نشاطات خارج الدوام المدرسي مثل المناسبات الرياضية، النوادي، الدروس الإضافية، إلخ … كما أن المشاركة في النشاطات المدرسية تُغني تجربة الطلاب في سنوات الدراسة الثانوية وتُساعدهم على الإستثمار في مدرستهم. كما نأمل بأن يحضر العديد من أهالينا المتفانين المناسبات المدرسية. وهكذا يمكننا، عبر العمل معاً، لجعل ثانوية ديربورن هاي قدوة يُحتذى بها. وأنا من المؤمنين بالقول المأثور ، ” يتطلّب الأمر قرية لتربية / تعليم طفل!”
يعمل فريقنا بجهد للتحضير لليوم الأول من المدرسة يوم الإثنين، 28 آب (آغسطس). وتتوفر جداول الصفوف للسنة الدراسية 2023-2024 على رابط الطالب و رابط الأهالي.
نرجو أخذ العلم، من أجل وضع خططكم، بأن اليوم المدرسي في المدارس الثانوية يبدأ عند الساعة 7:45 صباحاً وينتهي عند الساعة 2:45 بعد الظهر باستثناء أيام الثلاثاء – حيث يتم الإنصراف عند الساعة 1:15 بعد الظهر. أما أيام نصف الدوام فتنتهي الدراسة عند الساعة 10:55 صباحاً.

أرجو التأكد من صحة معلوماتكم وتحديثها على رابط الأهالي. إذا لم تكملوا النماذج المدرجة أدناه على الإنترنت، تأكدوا من ملء النماذج وإعادتها خلال جولة الصف التاسع التعريفية أو عند إستلام الجداول علماً بان النماذج المطلوبة هي: بطاقة الطوارئ (Emergency Card)، التقييم الصحي(Health Appraisal) ، التقييم الرياضي(Sports Appraisal) ، سياسة الهاتف المحمول(Cell Phone Policy) ، الموافقة على التلقيح(Consent Immunizations) ، رسالة قواعد السلوك(Code of Conduct) ، و نموذج مبيدات الحشرات (Pesticide Form) .
بينما نعود إلى المدرسة، أود تزويدكم ببعض المعلومات الإضافية حول الخطوات التي وضعناها للتأكد من إنتقال آمن وسلس نحو السنة المدرسية الجديدة.
إجراءات إنزال الطلاب
أرجو منكم إتباع مسار إنزال الطلاب عند إحضار أولادكم وبناتكم إلى المدرسة. كما أرجو منكم القيادة بسلامة والتأكد من عدم إنزال أولادكم وبناتكم على آوتر درايف (Outer Drive) حيث أن ذلك غير آمنٍ على الإطلاق.
الإفطار متوفر يومياً لجميع الطلاب ويبدأ في قاعة الطعام من الساعة 7:25 صباحاً .
إجراءات الإنصراف / إستلام الطلاب
يُغادر الطلاب المبنى من الباب الأقرب إلى صفهم. تحدثوا إلى اولادكم و بناتكم لتحديد أفضل مكان ووقت لاستلامهم في ممر الإنزال/الإستلام
مواقف الطلاب / الطالبات
على الطلاب الراغبين في ركن سياراتهم في مواقف الطلاب الحصول على تصريح ركن. ويمكن شراء التصاريح من مكتب المدرسة الرئيسي بسعر 20 دولار.
تنبيهات الدوام
في حال المرض، نرجو إبقاء ولدكم / إبنتكم في المنزل والإتصال بالمدرسة على 1600-827 (313) أو 1601-827 (313) للإبلاغ عن غيابه.
اللوازم المدرسية
سيقدم المدرسون / المدرسات لائحة مقترحة باللوازم المدرسية.
الإفطار والغداء
يحق لكل الطلاب / الطالبات إفطار وغداء مجاني. يبدأ الإفطارعند الساعة 7:25 صباحاً وتقفل الكافيتيرا أبوابها عند الساعة 7:45 صباحاً للتأكد من وصول الطلاب إلى صفوفهم في الوقت المحدد.
