We are very proud of our students and their hard work!  They will be moving on to State Solo and Ensemble!

On Thursday, we will be conducting a school- wide assessment. Students will be either taking the WIDA or PSAT/SAT. Seniors who are not taking WIDA testing or SAT will participate in a career exploration program. Have your student check the postings around the building to find their testing room.

Our PSAC (Principal Student Advisory Committee) is sponsoring a Valentines Spirit Week to keep things fun during testing week –  with the following daily themes:

  • Monday – Twin Day
  • Tuesday – Throwback Day (Dress like your younger self)
  • Wednesday – Dress to impress
  • Thursday – Culture Day
  • Friday – Valentines Day colors (seniors/juniors- red; sophomores/freshmen – white; staff-pink)

In addition, this week we will be re-introducing our Pioneer 6 Traits with the focus on one trait per month. Teachers will be implementing lessons and we will be using them a lot more  – school wide. Click here for a flier on the  Pioneer 6.  February’s focus will be on “Mindfulness”. The goal is to help students manage emotions, reflect, self-regulate and to be fully present during interactions.  Teachers will implement a mini-lesson teaching the importance of mindfulness, the difference between mindfull vs. Mind full, , its benefits and examples of how students can be mindful.  Please be sure to ask your student what they learned about mindfulness in the upcoming weeks.

On February 20th, DPS/LAHC will hold a Bilingual Vape Awareness-Informational Session for Parents from 6-7pm – hosted by DHS, FHS and EFHS.

The junior class is still in need of donations for their Tin Can Raffle on March 1st and 2nd, 2024.  The Tin Can Raffle is a junior year event to raise money for the Class of 2025 Prom and Senior Party expenses.  Below is a link for our Sign Up Genius, which is our platform for organizing different parent donors for baskets that will be used for the raffle.  We need your help in making this Tin Can Raffle a success.  Whatever you can contribute or sign up for is greatly appreciated.

When you sign up, please make sure to add in the “COMMENTS,” the approximate total cost of the basket and the name of your child that’s in the junior class.  If you have any other ideas or suggestions of what to donate that are not already on the sign up genius, please email me directly.

If you have items for a basket, please label it with your name and the basket theme, and you can drop them off to me at DHS in the Counseling Office.

Also, if you are not in the What’s App Parent group, please join using the link below
