Greetings Pioneers,
Congratulations to our football team for a great season! We had a rough start to the season, but your hard work and perseverance paid off and you made it to the second round of the playoffs. We are very proud of you!
WE HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE TONIGHT DURING PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES 1:30-7:30pm. This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teachers to discuss their progress in school.
Another important event this week is the Chatting with Central Office Event in which you will have the opportunity to talk to central office personnel to ask any questions on your mind. The event will be held Wednesday at 4pm.
In other news:
- Senior Headshots can be taken at school during lunch times and after school in Room E7 for a charge of $25. See Ms. Cassidy for more information.
- The NHS Induction Ceremony will be November 21st. Acceptance letters will be emailed to them during the week of November 11-15.

Construction, written by Zeina Baydoun. (9th grader at DHS)
“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” —Thomas Edison
Thomas Edison’s quote goes a long way. As mentioned, we often miss big, or even small, opportunities, due to our avoidance of having to do work. We’re human beings, and often we tend to be quite lazy. However, we need to do it in a lazy manner then, we just need to get our work done.
Whether the opportunity is small or big, it still is an opportunity. If you feel as if you are not provided with any opportunity, regardless of the fact that you most probably just missed them, we are all constructing our own life path, brick by brick.
For this, if you don’t see any opportunity coming your way, you go its way. Build your life step-by-step and you will succeed, as you will be the constructor, ensuring it turns out the way you want, and no matter what, constructing is not easy, you’ll be proud of yourself. Going back to small opportunities, at the time you may feel as if it will not do you much good.
An example would be, if you’re a student hoping to get an internship at a business, but instead are only getting volunteer opportunities, take them. The reason for this is because your effort towards volunteer will be shown, and eventually you’ll get the internship you wanted.
Doing nothing will get you nothing, and that is shown by not volunteering at the business at all will get you to having no position in the business at all.
The most important thing you need to pick up from this is that you need to get up now, and start constructing the life you want because if you just sit here and hope to get it, nothing will happen.
