Last Minute Reminders – DHS Commencement

Greetings Seniors and families!

It was so nice to see all of our seniors today! They did a great job at rehearsal and I expect tomorrow to be a wonderful day of celebration!

In the event it rains, we will hold the ceremony on June 1st.  But it looks like the weather will be perfect for us tomorrow morning.

Some reminders for students:

  • YOU RECEIVED YOUR TICKETS FOR GRADUATION – DO NOT LOSE THEM. If you need extra tickets, please talk to your classmates. You’d be surprised how many people are not using all 6 of their tickets. Feel free to network with others.
  • ARRIVE AT THE TENNIS COURTS  – NO LATER THAN 8:30AM tomorrow.
  • Tell your parents/family what side of the field you’re closer to (home/visitor’s side), so they sit on that side of the field.
  • Parking is across the street for everyone.
  • Dress formally. The dress for commencement is dressy. Boys a collared shirt, no jeans, no shorts, dressy shoes. Girls, dress appropriately for the day; consider wearing flats or wedges – as spiked heels on the grass at commencement can cause problems. Students in shorts or jeans will not participate.
  • No air horns, helium balloons or confetti cannons – Please save those for later celebrations so you are not obstructing the view of other families
  • Accept your diploma in a dignified, professional fashion (shake hands, smile and wave but no dancing or back flips, etc…)
  • Double twist and knot your tassel on your cap so that it doesn’t easily fall. Tassel should be on the right side of your cap. We will move it later to the left side.
  • After the recessional, you will be led to the front of the building where you can take pictures in front of the DHS backdrop with your family.
  • The senior party is at 10pm – tomorrow.

Please follow all directives and rules mentioned here and that we mentioned at rehearsal today and don’t ruin the celebration for your family. We will eject anyone who causes a disturbance or needs to be reminded of the etiquette of this formal ceremony.

Reminders for families and guests:

  • Ask your student which side of the field they are closer to so you can sit on that side of the field (home or visitors’ side)
  • Parking is across the street – for everyone – students and families
  • Gates will open at 9:00am
  • Two gates will be used as an entrance. One is under the scoreboard and the other is the entrance at the homeside used during football games. Each person entering will need a ticket!!!
  • No air horns, helium balloons, or confetti cannons, etc – Please save those for later celebrations so you are not obstructing the view of other families
  • Each student was given 6 tickets for their guests. If your family needs more tickets, we encourage you and/or your student to network with others who may not be using all 6 of their tickets.

Congratulations to the Class of 2025 and their families! You will be missed!

Always Lead the Way!!
