Hello Parents and Students,
For those of you who missed our Parent Talk last week, we’ve included the May 17th Parent Talk video as well as the Getting Accepted Into College and DIY Summer Learning slideshows for you.
There are two exciting pieces of information this week.
First, this summer DHS is offering free, for credit, learning opportunities through our summer enrichment classes at DHS. Classes will run in person Monday-Thursday from 8-1:30 from June 28th-July 30th; Friday will be asynchronous learning. Students who take courses have the opportunity to earn elective credit that can help with graduation requirements and give them more opportunities during the school year. The different courses that are going to be offered can be found in our DHS Summer Enrichment course catalog. After you decide on the course you’d like to take, please register for that class by entering your information in our DHS Summer Registration form. The deadline for registration is next Friday, May 28th. Our teachers are looking forward to seeing many of you this summer! Transportation and lunch will be provided.
Second, the district announced yesterday that starting in the 2021-22 school year, there will be a Dearborn Public Schools Virtual K-12 school. Information from the district and informational sessions can be found at https://vk12.dearbornschools.org/. Students will attend school fully virtual, will be taught live by DPS teachers, will follow our traditional schedule (7:20-2:15) everyday, and will virtually interact with their teacher to learn everyday. The commitment is for the full year, electives will be limited, and cameras will have to be on. If you are interested, you need to contact our enrollment secretary, Ms. Blackburn either in person or over the phone at (313) 827-1645, in order to transfer into the DPS Virtual K-12 school, by June 8th.
If you have any questions about either of these programs, please feel free to call us.
Thanks
Mr. Martin
