Student Voice Corner:
The Art of Uniqueness written by Zeina Baydoun (9th grader at DHS)
This is devoted to all, specifically my fellow peers.
We’re always told we should express and share our true colors, but how could we be so sure that our colors will be shown in the range of colors people are interested in? Well, we’re not sure, and that’s the beauty of it. Being yourself is for YOURSELF, not for the validation of others. If you’re the type of person who likes to challenge yourself, then do so. It’s your life, your future, your purpose, so leave a positive legacy wherever you go. Be the person who was remembered as unique, the person who did not think twice before expressing themself. Be the amazing person you want to be, and that is yourself. Do not let others attach strings to your life, and stop you from continuing to excel. Do not let others restrict your potential, and most importantly do not let others rob your joy. Do what you please, as there is a vivid art shown in uniqueness, and that is really the fact that it is unique, incomparable, and extraordinary. When you are yourself, you are transforming your possession of uniqueness into joy, and I believe that is the path we should take. Do not neglect the fact that there will never be someone who is completely identical to you, whether that is regarding your genes, fingerprint, and even mindset and heart. This is a fact that has a specific purpose, and that purpose is the purpose that we are destined to be… you guessed it… ourselves.
