Unity Dinner

The unity dinner between Dearborn High and Fordson was a great success. Mr. Dorn opened the evening with a brief history of the rivalry, noting that this Saturday will mark the 49th meeting between the two schools. He reflected on the 4,800 young men who have played in this game and created a lifetime of memories.

Attendees then enjoyed a delicious meal and meaningful conversations. Mr. Holly spoke about how we are all one school district, one city, neighbors, family, and friends—and how important it is to respect one another. He emphasized that it is truly a privilege to take part in the rivalry.

Coach Chaytou spoke on the importance of mutual respect, and what this game means to the community. Coach Giarmo shared his unique perspective: although he grew up on the west side of the state, his mother and uncle are Fordson graduates, and he grew up knowing about “the game” and always checking Fordson’s football scores.

After dinner, student-athletes came together for unfiltered conversation, laughter, and connection.
